Micro- and Nanoanalytics Group
|The Micro- and Nanoanalytics Group (LMN) was established by Prof. Benjamin Butz in October 2017 and it is closely related to the interdisciplinary Micro- and Nanoanalytics Facility (MNaF) of the University of Siegen. Our aim is to establish and to provide comprehensive expertise in advanced scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM, TEM) down to the atomic scale for micro- and nanostructure research at the School of Science and Technology. We utilize state-of-the-art EM instrumentation on the campus and at other research centres in Germany for own fundamental and applied materials research on 2D materials, batteries and ceramics as well as for collaborative research together with other university groups and external partners. Our expertise includes a vast variety of elaborated sample preparation techniques ranging from the mechanical and chemical preparation of bulk materials, thin films and nanostructured materials for SEM and TEM to the precise manipulation of individually selected nanoparticles on the nm-scale using piezo-driven manipulators. This expertise is going to be complemented by dedicated master courses on micro- and nanocharacterization with fast electrons and ions as well as dedicated TEM schools and microscope user trainings at the MNaF.|

After our successful TEM workshops in 2018 & 2019, we cordially invite all (potential) users of the MNaF scanning electron/ion microscopes (SEM/FIB) to this year's SEM/FIB School 2019, which will be conducted in Sept/Oct of this year. For detailed information, please see the flyer on the right side.
The workshop will be conducted in German or English depending on the participants' needs.
If you would like to participate, please directly contact Dr. Y. Sakalli.
