About us

Optimised products lie today at the heart of the lives of both individuals and companies. In the area of technology, the demands on the engineer to generate products which are reliable, market oriented and reduced in cost in the shortest time possible are becoming ever greater. Simultaneously, the optimisation of form and design, of the selected materials, the surface finishes, the production and assembly, and of the mechatronic functions are of key importance.

Holistic product innovation is only possible if all elements needed to ensure future success work together. This is the task of the Work Group for Machine Elements, Fastening Systems and Product Innovation in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Siegen.

We develop novel component systems, design these with the help of computer methods, put together and evaluate the product life cycle and check their behaviour in use in our own laboratories – our strength lies in our ability to connect these individual aspects in the right way. To aid this process, we complement our own technical knowledge and experience with commercial and self-written software tools based on a variety of mathematical techniques.

Our component oriented testing equipment is especially suited for compound stress situations, short testing times and the capture of realistic data under real-life conditions; this is of great advantage when one needs to understand, for example, the way in which connections between mechanical elements behave.
As connection techniques and the design of machine elements play such a key role in modern products, we are intensively active in this area.

We aim to contribute to knowledge transfer in the field by organising interesting lectures, seminars and theme evenings.

Areas of application of our services are, for example, the automotive industry, engine development. Motor sport, aviation and space technologies, ship building, submarine applications, assembly lines, automation, machines tools, presses etc., plant engineering, prototypes, machine components, micro and nano technologies, sports equipment and medical applications. These services include verified testing for product and process optimisation, together with concrete suggestions for improvement.

Confidentiality and reliability are especially important for us. As a result of our well developed network of skills and the university environment, we are unusually flexible. We are there to support you as you create and optimise your innovative products. Get in touch with us!
