Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis

Thermogravimetry in conjunction with a magnetic suspension balance is particularly suitable in highly corrosive atmospheres or whenever we have to expect occurrences of volatile gas species. In contrast to conventional thermogravimetric systems, a spatial separation of scale mechanics and reactor occurs via a magnetic coupling. In the course of this the sample is mounted horizontally by using a permanent magnet or a side electromagnet at its suspension. The mass change is recorded by inductive displacement transducer. The magnetic levitation thermobalance (0.1 micrograms maximum accuracy, sample mass to 25 g) designed by the company Rubotherm, allows fully automatic test procedure till temperatures of max. 1600 ° C under isothermal and thermal cycling conditions. In addition to laboratory air, freely miscible gas compositions as well as serve as a vacuum ambient atmosphere. Here, the oxygen content can be constantly monitored by a ZrO2 cell.
