Analysis of in-operation vibration of the ICE3 High Speed Train

Supervisor: Universitätsprof. Dr.-Ing. Claus-Peter Fritzen
Participants: Dipl.-Ing. Paula Escudero

Subject of this project is the application of new methods for calculation and a software developement to examine vibration behavior of ICE during drive. Special interests are focussed on the question at which frequencies dominant vibrations occur and if of the wagons are activated by stochastic interferences of the railtrack or if mode shapes are activated by harmonic vibrations, for instance by noncircularities of the wheels. A method called "Frequency Domain Decomposition" (FDD) is used for evaluation. The measuring data was recorded on a high-velocity distance by a monitoring wagon equipped with acceleration sensors. With the programm the movement of the train can be simulated . Also acceleration data of the wagon was evaluated to acquire a quantitative measure for ride comfort with regard to the mechanical vibrations.

A second sub-project is concerned with mathematical modelling of the dampers used in the ICE to reduce the movement between wagon body and bogie. By comparison with measure data collected by the research center of the Deutsche Bahn the parameters of the dampers were identified.
