For purposes of monitoring and damage prognosis it is important to know the external loads which act on a structural system. The knowledge of these loads enables us to make an assessment of damage after extreme events and updated forecasts of the remaining lifetime. In many practical applications it is not possible to measure the forces e.g. resulting from wind loads or traffic directly. Therefore, these forces are determined indirectly from dynamic measurements with an observerbased concept. The object is to develop a procedure of online force measurement and damage prognosis system that uses an observer technique. Find out an appropriate sensors type, optimal quantity and locations on the structure. Finally to accommodate an overall health monitoring system of structure. The measured data will be analysed by specific programmed algorithms. So the technical system becomes an intelligent structure that is able to perform a selfdiagnosis and to make a decision on the structure’s remaining life time. |
